Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 10, 2026

This policy describes which cookies and tracking technologies are used on narraya.art, their purposes and how you can manage your preferences.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work properly, improve browsing experience and, in some cases, collect statistical information.

Narraya uses technical cookies necessary for the platform to function. We do not use profiling cookies or cookies for advertising purposes.

2. Technical Cookies (Essential)

These cookies are strictly necessary for narraya.art to function and cannot be disabled. They do not require consent (Art. 6.1.f GDPR β€” legitimate interest).

narraya-themeNarrayalocalStoragePersistentStores the theme preference (light / dark / system)Not required

In addition to cookies, Narraya uses the browser’s local storage (localStorage) to remember your interface preferences (light/dark theme, sidebar state, editor mode, grammar settings, analysis panel preferences). These are strictly first-party technical data, never transmitted to external servers, and kept on your device until you clear them manually or reset your browser data.

3. Analytics and monitoring

Narraya uses Plausible Analytics (Estonia, EU) to measure aggregated site usage and Sentry for application error monitoring. Both tools load only after you explicitly grant analytics consent through the cookie banner.

Plausible is cookieless, does not collect unique identifiers, and anonymizes IP addresses. Sentry collects error stack traces, page URLs, and user-agent strings β€” only after your authorization.

Sentry Session Replay is permanently disabled: Narraya never records the editor content or the page DOM. The literary work you write stays on your device and in our encrypted databases, nowhere else.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some services integrated in Narraya may set their own cookies:

Firebase Authentication (Google)

Used for authentication management, including Google sign-in. Firebase cookies are essential for login and session management.

ID token: 1-hour duration (auto-renewed). Refresh token: session duration.

Stripe (payments)

Stripe cookies are only active during payment operations (checkout, subscription management).

  • __stripe_sid β€” session identifier (30 minutes)
  • __stripe_mid β€” fraud prevention (1 year)

For their respective policies, see:

5. Profiling and Marketing Cookies

Narraya does not use profiling, retargeting or marketing cookies.

We do not share data with advertising platforms and do not use tracking pixels of any kind.

6. Consent Management (Cookie Banner)

In accordance with the Italian Data Protection Authority's ruling of 10 June 2021 ("Cookie and tracking tools guidelines"), on first visit to narraya.art a cookie banner is shown offering:

  • "Accept all" β€” accepts all cookies (technical + preferences + analytics if present)
  • "Reject non-essential" β€” accepts only strictly necessary technical cookies
  • "Customize" β€” granular choice by category
  • No checkbox is pre-selected
  • "Accept" and "Reject" have equal visual prominence
  • The service is not conditional on accepting non-technical cookies (no cookie wall)
  • Scrolling and navigation do not constitute consent

7. How to Modify or Revoke Consent

You can change your cookie preferences at any time:

  • By clicking the "Manage cookies" link in the site footer β€” the banner will reappear
  • By deleting the narraya-cookie-consent cookie from your browser
  • From your browser settings (see next section)

8. How to Disable Cookies via Browser

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings:

Chrome: Settings β†’ Privacy and security β†’ Cookies and other site data

Firefox: Options β†’ Privacy & Security β†’ Cookies and Site Data

Safari: Preferences β†’ Privacy β†’ Manage Website Data

Edge: Settings β†’ Cookies and site permissions

Warning: disabling technical cookies may impair the proper functioning of the platform (login, session management, preference saving).

9. Extra-EU Transfers via Third-Party Cookies

Cloudflare, Firebase (Google) and Stripe cookies may involve data transfers to the United States. For details on transfer mechanisms (DPF, SCC), see the dedicated section in our Privacy Policy.

10. Updates to This Policy

This Cookie Policy may be updated. In case of substantial changes, we will update the date at the top of the page and, if necessary, request your consent again.
